And The Winner Is...

Miss Jordin Sparks !!!
However, with FOX ending the show at 10:08, everyone that DVR'd or Taped the show with out extending the recording missed the announcement of the winner. I'll be writing a scathing letter to FOX as I'm fucking pissed off that I spend hours each week and missed the end.

Season 6: Final 2 Perform

Well...the season is down to 2: Blake vs. Jordin. It's been an interesting year from Antonella Barba's porn to Sundance Head's goatee, to Haley Scarnato's legs, to Lakisha Jones' boobs, to Chris Sligh's hair, to Melinda Doolittle's lack of neck, to Phil Stacey's baldness to Sanjaya Malakar ! But, now it's time to decide who takes the crown.

First of all, what was Blake thinking going first after winning the coin flip? No one ever picks to go first. Anyway, Blake starts out with "You Give Love A Bad Name" which was his best performance of the season so it was a smart decision to sing it again. And he just does this song great. Love the beat boxing and for some reason, his weak voice works for this performance. Great start to the show.

Next, Jordin sings Christina Aguilera's "Fighter". It wasn't my favorite Jordin performance but she ended it strong. So, good first round but I agree with the judges that Round #1 belonged to Blake.

Blake was back singing a Maroon 5 song for the millionth time this season. This song was "She Will Be Loved" and he did an exact replica of the original song but not nearly as good. I thought his voice crackled at a few of the high notes. It's amazing how I could love his first song so much and loathe his second song. It was just weak and repetitive for the finals. Not good Blake.

Jordin came back with one of her strongest performances from Season 6 singing "A Broken Wing." And she nailed it on the money. I don't think I ever heard the original song so I can't compare it like Randy did but how could the original be better than what Jordin had just sung. So, now the competition is tied going into the final song that two guys from Seattle wrote.

Blake was first to sing the final song called "This Is My Now." Now, first of all, why do all these songs sound alike that they write for the finals. Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini sung "A Moment Like This." Rueben Studdard sung "Flying Without Wings." Clay Aiken sung "This Is The Night." Fantasia Barrino sung "I Believe." Diana DeGarmo sung "Dreams." Carrie Underwood & Bo Bice sung "Inside Your Heaven." Taylor Hicks sung "Do I Make You Proud." Katharine McPhee sung "My Destiny." All of these songs are the same. Anyway, Blake just blew it. To be fair, the song was not fit for him at all. But, it is the last song that will be remembered and it was awful.

Jordin was next to take a stab at the same song. Last year, in the auditions, I made the early call to pick Kelly Pickler as the American Idol winner which didn't happen. So, this year, I wanted to redeem myself with the early prediction of Jordin Sparks. And after she completed this song, you don't have to watch tonight's results show as Jordin will be crowned this year's champion. Luckily, the song was perfect for her voice and she just did a fantastic job of it. So, congratulations Jordin. Great job.

As for Blake, can he be the successful 2nd place finisher like Clay Aiken or will he disappear like Diana Degarmo. Only time will tell.

So, this wacky season comes to an end. It wasn't the best season but I still tuned in like an idiot every night and I'll be back in January doing the same. Now I'm on summer vacation. But until January, Birdman Out !

Doolittle Eliminated !

Was it really that much of a shocker that Melinda Doolittle got the boot? Most seasons have this shockers and we haven't had one this season yet. This is up there with the big shockers in the past - Tamayra Gray, Latoya London, and Chris Daughtry. Now...let's bring on the finale !

Season 6: The Final 3

No more themes...we are down to business as finally, the Final 3 performed last night. And actually, all performances were solid last night so I'm not even sure what the hell I'm gonna write. But, I'm sure something will come off the finger tips. So, here we go...

Jordin Sparks kicked it off singing "Wishing On A Star" which Simon chose for her. I think it was a song from Expose' or Klymaxx or The Jets or one of those girl groups of the 80's. Or maybe it was Brenda K. Starr or Selena. Anyway, it was a good song choice to take a song from a cheezy group and update it for this millennium. I loved the R&B tone to the song and I thought she hit it right on the money. If I were sitting with Roger and Ebert, I'd give the performance a Thumbs Up. Jordin's next song was the producers choice of "She Works Hard For The Money." Another good song choice. Simon had commented that he loved the "money note" at the end but my freggin cable froze for a few seconds so I missed the end note. But, I thought she moved around the stage nicely and sung the soon well. Finally, it was Jordin's choice and she chose was "I, Who Have Nothing" which she had sung weeks ago in the competition to rave reviews. It was her best performance of the night. What can ya say...she's good. Does she make the finals next week? I won't give my prediction yet but I'm sure you know what I'm gonna say anyway.

Next up was Blake Lewis. Paula chose "Roxanne" for him. First of all, "Roxanne" is one of the most overrated songs. It irritates the hell out of me just as much as "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics does. Awful. However, it was a good song choice for Blake. I like how he brought back some blonde into his hair to make him look less like a pedofile. He sung the song well for him. He doesn't have a great voice but he did the best he could with his voice but his stage presence helps him make the performance. The producers then chose Maroon 5's "This Love" which turned out to be another great song choice. He was totally into his element and hey...he sounded good again. Crap...I was really hoping he would suck like he mostly does. Finally, he chose "When I Get You Alone" and he nailed it. Love the end with the slight beat boxing and wow...we got ourselves a battle now. It shows that song choice is so important.

Finally, we have Melinda Doolittle. Randy chose a Whitney Houston song "I Believe In You And Me." When I heard the song choice, I was worried as Whitney is one of the artists you should stay away from. She did a great job which you can't argue with. However, was it better than Whitney Houston? I don't think so. I don't think that Melinda overwhelming won Round 1 like Simon had said. The producer chose "Nutbush City Limits" by Ike and Turner for Melinda. What a stupid song. What the HELL is a nutbush? Is that another way of saying Almonds On A Vagina? I didn't like the song choice at all. However, we all know Melinda can sing and she did a fantastic job. The problem with this song is that it required more yelling than singing but she still did it well. Finally, Melinda chose "I'm A Woman." I hated her last outfit as it made her look all scrunched up again. However, the singing overshadowed her look.

So, prediction time. I've been on the Jordin bandwagon since the beginning so I can't change my tune now. Melinda is a lock to go to the finals but look what happened last year when it got deep in the competition when Daughtry lost out to Yamin so anything can happen. Anyway, I'm saying Blake goes home but if Melinda and Jordin split the vote, then Blake can squeak into the finals. We shall see tonight. Until then, Birdman Out !

Lakisha Booted !

Lakisha Gone...we're down to the final 3 ! I guess she split the black vote with Melinda and Jordin. So Blake survives and he's next to go !

Season 6: The Final 4 Perform

It's May Madness as the Final 4 has arrived. Barry Gibb was the theme. Basically, what we have here is the weakest final 4 since Idol began. One may argue the final 4 of season 3 was worse with Fantasia, Diana DeGarmo, Jasmine Trias, and Latoya London. Latoya exiting at the 4 slot is better than anyone we have left this season. However, I believe that Melinda and Jordin are stronger than Jasmine, Diana, and Fantasia (although, people will definitely no agree with me on the Fantasia thing). Anyway...here's how it went down:

Melinda kicked things off singing "Love You Inside And Out." I had commented before on how well the stylist have changed her image from dwarfy to normal. So, with it being the top 4, I didn't want her looks to distract the singing. So, I just focused on my dinner - Cincinnati chilli stuffed in jumbo pasta shells and then stuffed with shredded cheddar cheese. So, listening to her singing, I thought she did a good job. Can you say Gladys Knight? It was far from her best but when you look at the Top 4, it was safe. I agree with the judges that I want to be Wow'd at this stage of the game. Melinda's second song was "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?" And I think I jinxed her when she came out in that grandma-like dress. What ever they did to her for the second song made her look like a dwarf for the first time in a month. The neck was again gone. The waist was again missing. The stylist really blew it here. The song started off a bit boring but about mid way through it, she took it to another level. Melinda was back belting out lyrics; she looked like a polished professional up there on the stage.

Blake Lewis followed her. He was coming off his amazing Bon Jovi performance of last week. I was so curious as to what he would do. His first song was "You Should Be Dancing." However, the dancing was not his problem. First of all, what is up with the black hair. My wife said he looks like Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran). I thought it was a good song choice but the entire song was sung in a high falsetto voice and Blake's voice is not that good to begin with. I was seconds away from fast forwarding the performance to the end so I didn't have to hear any more of it. He went from one of the best performances of the season to one of the worst of the season. The beat boxing didn't work for this song. I see this guy as a back-up vocalist in a European Band but surely not a lead singer. It was quite creepy. Blake's second song was "This Is Where I Came In." Sorry dude...this is where you bow out ! I can't believe that Barry Gibb said that Blake could turn this lesser known song into a hit. Maybe he forgot the "s" with "hit" and he meant to say that he would turn the song into a piece of shit. This was worse than his first performance. The singing was terrible. The song was horrendous. The outfit and the hair was just wrong. He can maybe make a career singing in techno clubs for people to dance to when they are cracked out and/or high on extacy (I can't spell.)

Lakisa's turn was next. Her first song was "Stayin' Alive." This was the wrong song choice. There are certain songs SO big that you just don't touch. This is one of the biggest Bee-Gees songs of all time and is so unique and popular that it should have been untouched. However, she touched it. Stayin alive has left Lakisa out for dead. The good news was that her jugs were back and as enormous as ever. But the singing was bad. She seemed out of breath at points. The song was made by people with such high voices and then Lakisha sung it, the song was so deep and slow and boring. It was a total snooze fest. This may have been a hit for Lakisha at her local church with the choir, but on stage for American, it was plain and ordinary and bad. Lakisha's second song is "Run To Me." First of all, her voice totally cracked at the end. As for the entire performance, it was mediocre at best. Is Lakisha our next American Idol? If Jennifer Hudson didn't make it to the Top 3 a few years back, Lakisha doesn't deserve to make it that far as she not even half as good as Jennifer.

Jordan is next and then also ends the show. Her first song was "To Love Somebody." Great song choice. She sounds a bit like a young Toni Braxton which is a good thing. She looked comfortable up there belting out the lyrics. It was by far the best of the night. The shame of it is, that if she was part of past seasons, besides Season 3, she probably would not have made it to the Top 2. However, this season is a different story as her competition is weak. She's the most marketable of the 4 remaining and her first song solidified her quest to make it to the finals. Jordin's second song was "A Woman In Love." It was not her best performance but based on what I've heard from the Final 4, I reiterate my prediction that Miss Sparks is our next American Idol.

What scares me is that for the Final 4 of prior years, every other year, there has been a BIG upset. Season 1 had Nikki McKibbin upset Tamayra Gray. Season 2, I don't believe there was an upset as Kimberly Locke was much better than Josh Gracin. Season 3 had Jasmine Trias upset Latoya London. Season 4 there wasn't an upset either as Vonzell Solomon was much better than Anthony Federov. Season 5 had a big upset when Elliot Yamin outlasted Chris Daughtry. So, what is instore for season 6? If the pattern holds, then either Lakisa or Blake are gone. But, you never know if the upset factor can hold putting Jordin or Melinda in trouble. Who knows ! I'm still saying Lakisa and Blake are the bottom 3 and that Lakisha will be going home as I thing Lakisha will lose votes to Melinda and Jordin while Blake has a totally different fan base. We shall see.

Until then...Birdman Out.

Phil & Chris Eliminated

Phil and Chris are gone. Phil did NOT deserve to go but Chris' elimination is long overdue. Lakisha should have gone instead of Phil.

Season 6: Top 6 Perform...Again

Well, we are down to the final 6, half way to crowing a champion. I'm born and bread in New Jersey, some would say Jersey Cheese. And us Jersey folk like two things - Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi. The latter of the two was theme for the evening. And, here's how it went down.

Phil Stacey kicked off the program singing "Blaze Of Glory." Since he had done country songs well the last two weeks, I was hoping that he would come out and sing "Wanted Dead Or Alive" as that has a country twang to it. But, the song choice of his was still great as it had that country feel to it. And ya know what? He totally pulled it off. I'm not a huge fan of Egg Head but I thought he did a great job. He showed great stage presence and belted out the lyrics of the song. He totally stepped up his game last night and should be a shoe-in now for the Final 4.

Next up was my favorite, Jordin Sparks, singing "Living On A Prayer." First of all, it was the wrong song choice. She needed to sing one of Bon Jovi's slow songs. I was hoping she would sing "Bed Of Roses" or "Always" that could really show off her voice. This was a train wreck. I didn't like her hair. I didn't like her singing, or shall I say, yelling. And it just looked so awkward on the stage. She's lucky that last week gets combined with this week so I still think she makes the Final 4 but not a good performance by Miss Sparks. Ouch !

Following that disaster was Lakisha Jones. I was nervous for her as she has a very gospely voice and to sing Bon Jovi might not be the right kind of music for her. Her song choice was "This Ain't A Love Song." I thought it was a great choice of song and she did it nicely. It wasn't great but it was one of her best performances in the past few weeks. And she's losing weight. You don't need to be on the Biggest Loser, you just need to make the Top 12 on American Idol to slim down. Still, when we combine last week with this week, Miss Jones may be on the bubble.

Hitting the stage next was Blake Lewis with an interesting rendition of "Shot Through The Heart." This is the performance I've been waiting for out of Blake. He hasn't beat boxed in over a month but he took he took a huge risk and pulled it off. The way he made the song sound was not the kind of music I like but the song and performance was fantastic. It was original and entertaining. The dark hair was a bit creepy but for me, this was one of the best performances in the history of American Idol. When watching American Idol 10 in 4 years, this is the performance you'll look back and say, "Hey...remember that Blake Lewis performance..." That's how good it was. I still don't love his voice but I got to toast my coffee cup to this guy for what he did last night. Clap Clap !

Boy Band Wannabee Chris Richardson was up next singing "Wanted Dead Or Alive." I just don't like this guy's voice. If he's not singing through his nose, he's singing these irritating runs and it makes him sound like a whiny bitch. I think Chris has gone as far as he can go in this competition. I also though he picked the wrong song as he's not a country singer. I thought he should have picked something a bit more upbeat. Sorry Chrissy...time's up !

The show ended with Melinda Doolittle singing on of Bon Jovi's more recent songs - "Have A Nice Day." This was a great way to end the show. The dwarf factor has been less bothersome the last 4 weeks. Again, kudos to the stylist. And what great singing. Who know a black woman could pull off a song of a white "rock" band. Great job Melinda. Every year there is that one person that the judges rarely criticize that is their favorite. Melinda is that girl. I'm still rooting for Jordin but odds are that Melinda could be our next Idol. A.J.M. - Awesome Job Melinda !

So, if you have to combine this week with last week, going home are Chris and Lakisha. Bring on the Top 4 ! Woooooooooooo ! Birdman Out !

Idol Gives Back

No one was eliminated this week. Two go next week. Before hearing anyone sing, next week's bottom 3 will be: Chris, Lakisha, and Phil.

Season 6: Top 6 Perform

Well, it's the special week of Idol Gives Back. Do you know what Idol should give back? How about hours of my time this season watching these crap singers. So, it was inspirational songs this week. Let's see how I was inspired by their performances.

First up is Chris Richardson singing "Change The World." How about change your image dude. Again, he's such a wannabee. He thinks he IS but he so ISN'T. I don't think the judges were as critical this week on performances as the show was for charity. I'll make a donation tonight as long as this guy gets the boot. I'm coming flat out and telling you the truth on this guy. He is like a bad whore with sharp teeth....HE SUCKS. He really has a weak voice and a terrible stage presence. He struts around the stage bobbin' his head back and fourth like he has a neck twitch or he really loves bobbin for apples. His hand movements look arthritic to me. Enough with the runs. Yeah...we've heard them for weeks already and they don't work. Sorry dude. You need to figure out a second career soon as music is a bad choice.

Melinda Doolittle is up next singing "There Will Come A Day." And ya know what, this was her best performance I've heard. Part of the reason was that she was singing a good Faith Hill song instead of a crap song but she had it going. I could totally hear that song on the radio. Again, maybe because it was once on the radio but she totally made that song her own without ruining it. For her, she looked good and the midget effect was not as bad again. If she wins American Idol, her stylist should share the money from her first CD.

After that, it was Blake Lewis. Blake has been so boring for weeks. Last night he sung "Imagine" by John Lennon. So, I closed my eyes and wanted to imagine some good singing. What I heard was just the opposite. His singing is boring. His voice is just not that good. He has gone down hill the most in my mind. The reason we loved Blake when this competition started was because he was different; he brought a different style to the competition with his beat boxing. It's been weeks since he broke out in a beat box of some good dancing. His performances used to intrigue me. Now they just bore the hell out of me. If he survives this week, he needs to good back to his roots and do what got him into this competition in the first place.

Following Blake, was LaKisha Jones. Last week she sung Carrie Underwood's hit song about Jesus taking the wheel. I had said it was a HUGE mistake to sing a song from a prior Idol contestant. And, obviously, she didn't follow my advice. She sung "I Believe" by Fantasia whom you all know I loathe. Just on a side note, please do NOT waste your money seeing Fantasia on Broadway in "The Color Purple." I want her to CLOSE that show down. Anyway, LaKisha made a huge mistake again. I didn't like the song choice and I agreed with the judges that when that song is heard, all you can hear is Fantasia (and her horrific voice.) LaKisha yelled the song, it was out of tune, and it was a complete mess. She is definitely on the bubble again. And, what happened to the cleavage? Bring it back. Legs kept Haley alive for a while. Boobs may buy you another week or two tops !

Phil Stacy was next to take the stage. He was singing Garth Brooks "The Change." I didn't even realize it was a Garth Brooks song because it didn't sound a bit like a country song to me. I'm glad he stuck to the country thing as he was so good last week but I was not buying this performance. I was boring. I wish he went with something a bit more up beat. It definitely was not his worst performance but I wish he followed up his performance from last week with another good job. Still, at this stage of the competition, I wanted to be WOW'd and I was just EHHH'd.

I was extremely happy that Jordin Sparks was ending the show as that is mostly the best performance of the night. She sung "You'll Never Walk Alone." Back in February right after watching the Seattle Auditions, I had written the following: There were some bright spots and one stand out. A shoe-in for the Top 12 is Jordan Sparks. The second she walked in, this girl had the look, personality, and the style. Now, she just had to be able to sing. And boy did she ever. She belted out "Because I Love You" by Celine Dion and it blew me away. Remember the name cause she is going DEEP in this competition. Then, when the Top 12 girls performed, I wrote: Next up is my early female favorite - Jordin Sparks, who sang Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason". Something about this girl that I like. She has a cute look and a good personality that will carry her far. And, I like what she did with the song. It was sort of what Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks would do. They would go thru 2/3rds of the song singing good but then the final 3rd of the song was totally powerful. Plus, she had this Beyonce'ish, Kelly Clarksonish, Christina Aguilaraish sound to her. I'm rooting for this girl to go deep and I think she can get better each week. Then, I declared it all once the Top 12 performed for the first time when I wrote: Finally, there was my Audition Favorite, Jordin Sparks to end the show with "If We Hold On Together." And how can you not love this girl. She has the look. She has the voice. She has the smile. She has the personality. Loved her performance. And, I'm going to go out on a limb that she will WIN American Idol 6. I can see myself buying her CD over Lakisha and Melinda. So, there ya go. It's official. Jordin Sparks is our next American Idol. Last night's performance was more of the same. And Jordin will be our next Idol. There's nothing more to say.

As for Eliminations, the bottom 3 will be Phil, Chris, and Lakisha. Phil is safe. It will come down to Chris and Lakisha. I hope it's Chris but I think it will be Lakisha. So, that's the scoop. Donate some money tonight for this cause. Birdman Out.

Season 6: Top 7 Perform

At first, I was pissed off that we were going to go from Latino week to country week with Martina McBride as the coach, but ya know what, it was better than I thought; however, it was still not good for some of the singers. Here's how it played out:

Phil Stacy kicks off the show singing "When The Black Top Ends" by Keith Urban. First of all, I liked his cheesy outfit for the song he was singing. I'm not a Phil fan but he actually pulled off this country song. Looking at this egg head, who would know that he should be signing country songs. I actually enjoyed the performance, the dancing, the stage presence, etc... He definitely saved his ass with this performance.

My favorite, Jordin Sparks, was up next singing "Broken Wing" by Martina McBride. Yeah, singing a song by the coach as a slight ass-kissing effect to it but I didn't mind. The song started out good and then half way through the song she took it to another level. The song was perfectly done. It's shaping up like a Sparks vs. Doolittle finale. And, I'm sticking with my early prediction that Jordin Sparks will be the next American Idol and it now looks like Cowell is joining my bandwagon.

Following this performance was Mr. Sanjaya Malakar. He sung a song that I loathe - "Somethin' To Talk About" by Bonnie Raitt. First of all, Sanjaya, wearing a bandana over his head, looked like a cross between a cleaning lady and a bus boy in a night club. It was really creepy. And the singing was really bad. He couldn't have picked a more Keroke-like song. And, if you are going to go into the audience and sing, you need to have a better voice. I actually didn't think it was his worst performance but the whole thing is turning into a major joke already. We are coming down the home stretch on this season so Sanjaya time is ticking. However, I don't think he'll go home this week yet.

Next up was LaKisha Jones signing Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take The Wheel." First of all, you should NOT sing a hit song from a prior Idol contestant. That is just stupid. You need to separate yourself from a prior contestant. Secondly, she didn't show the knockers this week. I think the cleavage should have come out a bit more to help her with votes because she'll need them this week after this horrific performance. I was singing in my head "Jesus, Give Me Earplugs." What the hell was she doing? It was near unlistenable to. It was out of tune and it totally didn't work for her voice. Plus, I hated her gold boots. Her legs looked like C3-PO. Lakisha is in a bit of trouble.

Chris Richardson followed singing "Mayberry." This is up there with one of the worst performances ever in Idol History. The song was sung entirely thru his nostrils and sounded like he was whining like a kids and he squeaked his way through the song. Plus, the dancing and head movements made me want to crack my own neck. Chris basically has gotten this far because little girls think he's cute. But, now with the field getting tight, people need to see that this guy can not sing. If he thinks he's going to have a career in music, he better brace for being poor his entire life.

Melinda Doolittle sung next. She chose "Trouble Is A Women". And yes, she sung it very well. It was one of her best performances. And the stylists are making her look a bit less squished together. She's still funny looking but she can sing. I wish she had nicer teeth. Maybe some dentist will give her the Elliot Yamin treatment before releasing her first CD.

Finally, Blake ends the show singing "When The Stars Go Blue" by Tim McGraw. It was horrendous. It was out of tune and his performance was boring. He didn't dance, beat box, or do much except go through the motions of singing this beyond boring son. It's crunch time and he surely crunched.

So, let's say Sanjaya stays. The bottom 3 are: Lakisha, Chris, and Blake. I think Blake goes back to the chairs leaving Lakisha and Chris. And I hope and pray that it is Chris that gets the boot. See ya next week.

Birdman out.

Legs Have Left The Building

It came down to Baldy or Legs. Legs has been such a bad singer the entire season that it was finally time to go. Maybe look for her in a stocking advertisement one day.

Season 6: Top 8 Perform

A few years back, American Idol did Gloria Estefan night where the contestants sung Latino music. That was one of the worst nights in Idol history. Well, that all changed last night with Jennifer Lopez's Latino night. Why don't the producers understand that to sing Latino music, you MUST be Latino. It's sort of like when they have Country night, it's not fair to the black singers. Last night wasn't fair to ANY of the singers. Here's how last nights crap fest went down:

Melinda was up first singing "Sway." What was weird was that her hair and dress made her look about 45 years old, but, it somehow made her look a bit stretched out and not as scrunched up. The dwarfism didn't bother me as much whatever the stylists did to her. Her singing was good. She did a good job based on this category. The performance was far from sexy and was nothing to write home about but it was a solid performance. Don't get me wrong...I will NOT be buying a Doolittle CD one day.

LaKisha followed with "Conga." The second I heard the song choice, I let out an, "Oye Vey." First of all, the outfit. She was wearing this red dress with these zebra-like stripes which revealed her gymongous (not sure if that is a word but I'm using it anyway), bodaceous tah-tas ! They look like these brown helium balloons that if they weren't tucked into her dress, they would just float away. Men who did that full-figured look had plenty of visuals for their self-pleasuring that evening. Anyway, I'm getting off track. As soon as Lakisha completed her song, I declared her to be in the bottom 3. I thought it was the wrong song choice and it was sung horribly. I thought it was out of tune and parts of it sounded like she was out of breath. I know she has a better voice than what came out of her mouth last night. Maybe it has to do with the Latino music but WOW...it was bad.

Following LaKisha was Chris singing Santana's "Smooth." This performance was far from smooth. It was actually quite rough to listen to and watch as well. First of all, what was with is outfit. It was a bit Michael Jacksonesque with his shirt and jacket. As for the performance, he can't dance. He does this twitch with his head when he sings which drives me bananas. Go to a chiropractor if you have next issues but please stop doing that. And his arms and hands, it's like this slow motion R&B sway which just looks completely awkward. As for the singing, this is where I apologized to LaKisha as this was even more painful than her performance. This guy is the most overrated singer left in the competition. He's not suited for big time. This was really a high school talent show performance.

Hitting the stage next was Haley who made a huge mistake singing "Turn The Beat Around." I remember Diana Degarmo doing this bad in Season 3 but this made Diana's performance sound like a Grammy performance. Haley needed to turn the beat OFF. Bad song choice and it was sung horribly. This song you need to have a strong voice and be able to sing the lyrics fast in certain points. She failed at both. But, you do have to applaud the legs. Simon finally said something which I've been saying about the outfits getting skimpier and skimpier. Hey, if you can't sing it, flaunt it ! What's weird is that for Lakisha's performance, I'm staring at these enormous jugs and for this performance, it's about legs. But this isn't a body parts contest; it's about singing which was bad.

Following this terrible performance was Phil singing "Maria Maria." Phil, Phil, Phil. What the hell was coming out of your mouth. He sang the song like there were marbles in his mouth. The best part of his performance was when it was over. He voice was all over the place and the entire song was out of tune. Again, singing Latino music didn't help but he's really not that good anyway. How could this guy be in the Top 8 when Sabrina Sloan is still at home watching. A poor job by the judges putting some of these people in the competition this season. He needs to disqualify himself and go back to the Navy.

Now comes Jordin Sparks singing "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You." This was a good song choice because the song almost sounds a bit more R&B than it does Latino. She looked good and sung the song nicely. It was definitely the best performance of the bad night but I still wanted it to be a bit better. I like her so I'm not gonna blast her at all. Based on looks, personality, stage presence, and voice, she should win the whole thing. But, as we know, the best doesn't always win.

And now comes Blake kissing Jennifer's ass singing her husband's song "I Need To Know." Blake is a good performer. I'll give him that. But the performance last night was nothing to remember. He really didn't move much. It was almost as if he was too tired to show off his dance skills while singing. As for his voice, which I don't love, actually sounded decent last night. It was the perfect song choice for him. Hey...he did a good job. But, whoop-dee-doo !

Ouch....they saved Sanjaya for last which "last" mostly means the best performance of the night. What was weird was that they made this indian boy almost look like a Latino artist. Great job by the stylist. He sang a song called "Besame Mucho" which was sung all in Spanish. I don't like his voice at all and it's so creepy looking at him but it was not his worst vocals. It could have been the most boring song in 6 seasons especially since it was sung in another language but for Sanjaya, it was probably is best vocals even though it still stank, if that makes any sense. Pathetically, he's safe for another week.

So, who goes home? Who's the bottom 3. It's almost hard to choose. I'm gonna go with Phil, Haley, and Chris. And LaKisha could be on the bubble as well with her performance. Still, I'm rooting for Chris to go home but it's most likely going to be Phil or Haley. I'll say Phil goes home. Personally, they could all go home for all I care. Birdman Out.

Gina Gets The Boot

She wasn't the worst singer left in the competition. However, she totally wrecked her image. She wasn't going to win this season anyway so does it really matter? Good-Bye Gina ! You were actually much better than Nikki McKibbin and Ryan Starr for being a "rocker chick."

Season 6: Top 9 Perform

Well, I'm back from vacation and it seems that the singing on American Idol this year is still on vacation. I'm starting to think that the judges are making good comments on bad performances so they don't look as stupid this late in the game because they are the ones that basically put these people in the Top 24 to begin with. Anyway, here's how Tony Bennett night went down:

Blake Lewis was first to hit the stage singing "Mack The Knife." I think Blake is a good performer but if you actually don't look at him perform and just listen to the singing, it really isn't that good. His voice is not strong at all. He does a decent job but Whoop De Freggin' Doo ! This guy is going to go deep but would you shell out $14.99 for a Blake Lewis CD? If people aren't buying Taylor Hick's CD, no one will buy this guy's crap.

Next up was Phil Stacy singing "Night And Day." Phil has really gone down hill as far as I'm concerned. His voice is weak and when he belts the power part, its not even that strong. He so tries to sound like Clay but he sounds a bit more like Michael Sandecki (that weird Clay wannabee guy). Phil, Phil, Phil...not good man. Not even close! Paula even said that Phil reminds her of Frank Sinatra. She must be deaf. It's more like Frank Snot.

Our resident dwarf Melinda Doolittle is up next singing "I've Got Rhythm" which is a great song choice. I actually enjoyed her performance. She sung the song good and they made her look better than normal. But when I look at her, it's a head on a shoulder with a missing neck. Then, there is a short space of chest before a bust with a belt right under that with her legs. She's missing sections of her body - The next and the waist. It's really awkward to look at. Yes...she's a good singer but there is NO sex appeal. I can't see her actually selling CDs.

Wannabee Chris Richardson followed with "Don't Get Around Much Anymore." He came down the stairs like he was going to go into some Michael Jackson dancing but really was just clapping his hands and strutting a bit. If you are gonna start out a performance in a MJ pose, then you better break out some dance moves. The difference between Chris and Blake is that Blake can perform and Chris doesn't have a clue. He looks ridiculous up there trying to think he's the lead in a boy band. Well...maybe he'll be in a boy band, one that performs for local Bar Mitzvahs. His voice is terrible despite what the judges say. I just don't get this act at all.

Next up was Jordin Sparks. She sang "On A Clear Day." She sung it nice until the end. Then, she really WOW'd me. I've said it from the beginning that she will WIN AI6 and she is starting to prove me correct. I don't think she's as strong as some of the singers in the past - Kelly, Carrie, Latoya, Tamayra, and Vonzell, but in this year's crop, she's at the top !

Then came Gina Glocksen who was a visual nightmare. She sang "Smile" and watching the performance, all I could do was frown. Her image was all wrong. I didn't like the hair on her. I didn't like her dress. I didn't like her makeup. I didn't like her stockings. I hate those netted stockings. It's too S&Mish for me. Gina should be more hard and edgy. Not sure what she was trying to do but it didn't work for me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard but it wasn't her best. She was so much better last week. She could be on the bubble this week.

Okay, it was now Sanjaya time. He "sang" a song called "Cheek To Cheek." It was more like butt cheek to porcelain bowl because his performance, pardon the French, was shit. What else can you say anymore? It doesn't matter. He's not gonna be in the bottom 3 again as the country is calling in votes for him in droves. Imagine if Sanjaya won this season? If that happened, American Idol would have officially jumped the shark. What the hell was he wearing? It was like a Tony's jacket in Saturday Night Fever and his hair was all slicked back. Ewwwwww. It's creepy. Plus, he went into the audience and danced with Paula. If you walk thru the audience to do that, you MUST have a better voice. I'm actually embarrassed for him watching his creepy performances.

Following the train wreck was Haley Scarnato. Haley sung "Ain't Misbehavin." Her vocals weren't great but it wasn't her worst performance. What I liked was that she is showing her legs. Hell, if you can't sing it, flaunt it. She's be long gone if she hadn't started showing skin the last 3 weeks. The problem with this performance was that nobody cares. I'm mostly quiet during the performances and in the middle of her singing, we actually were talking about things other than her singing. It is were really good, I would have kept my mouth shut and focused on her singing. I've said it before, she is this year's Julia DeMato, but with legs.

Ending the show was LaKisha Jones. She sang "Stormy Weather." This girl is one gigantic tit that sings. I'm mesmerized by the size of her melons. She sang the song very good as it was not a copy cat performance. Am I blown away by LaKisha? Hell no. Is she a good singer? Yes. Will I vote for her? No. Will she win this year's competition? I hope not.

So, that leaves the bottom 3. Hmmmmmm. Let's say Sanjaya is safe even though he deserves to be in the bottom. My bottom 3 would be: Gina, Phil, and Haley with Phil going home. I'd love to be wrong and have Chris in the bottom but I think horny teenage girls are giving him the "cute" vote. Yuck.

We'll see what happens. Birdman Out

Season 6: Top 10 Perform

Sorry, this is late and gonna be shorter than longer as I'm on vacation, the results have already been announced, and this computer is so damn slow.

I knew it was gonna be a bad week when I heard Gwen Stefani was the guest. I think she is a pig with a horrendous voice. Anyway....

I really didn't LOVE any performance. Even my favorite, Jordan Sparks, I actually walked out of the room during her performance to pee. Lakisha and Melinda are really boring. Yeah...voices nice but doesn't do it for me. It's nothing special. Blake's voice is horrible and every song he sings sounds alike. Chirs Sligh's stock went down hill quickly. Phil Stacy, Gina Glocksen, etc... Who cares. And Chris Richardson...this guy has NO voice as far as I'm concerned. Then, Sanjaya coming out looking like a rooster? Come on. This is a joke of a season.

I'd pick the bottom 3 but it really doesn't matter. I think they all deserve to get voted off and to have NO winner this year.

Birdman Out

PS...I'll be back up and in rare form next week.

Sanjaya Survives...Stephanie Goes Home. She wasn't gonna win anyway. Okay...next please!

Season 6: Top 11 Perform

11 Singers were left. If this wasn't American Idol, I'd stop watching now as it's really weak. But, it is American Idol and I'm a sucker for reality television so I'll still tune in each week to see how bad it gets. Here's how bad it was this week with the theme of 60's British Invasion songs:

Haley Scarnato is first to take the stage singing a song called "Tell Him." I though it was going to be awful but I was pleasantly entertained by her performance. She looked good in her short shorts and sung the song well. Yeah, there were a few issues with the song but she stepped up her game and it was a nice way to start off the show. It was definitely her best performance to date.

The cheezeball in Chris Richardson is up next. He sang "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying." After that performance, I was crying and not in a good way. I've said it once and I'll say it again. This guy SO wants to be the lead in a boy band. Sorry Chrisy...not happening. I think your voice is horrible. Every word that comes out of his mouth is partially out of his nose as well. And very sentence ends with him doing his runs. STOP. Your neck twitches to the side every time you do those runs and its so irritating to listen to and watch. I was shocked that the judges liked this performance as I thought it was garbage.

Next up was Stephane Edwards. Her outfit was horrific with the black S&M boots and this blue tight dress that doubled the size of her butt. The only thing missing was a doggie collar around her neck and a whip. She sang "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" which I thought was a great song choice. And she sung the song decently. My problem is that if Tamayra, Latoya, or Vonzell had sung this song, it would have WOW'd me. Steph sang the song good but there was no WOW factor involved. I want her to blow me away and I don't think her voice is strong enough to do that.

Blake Lewis strutted to the stage next to do an updated version of "Time Of The Season." I love this guys stage presence and dancing. I love this guy's beat boxing. However, I don't think he has a great voice. A great voice mixed with the beat box and dancing would vault this guy to the top but his voice for me is just ok. The best part of the song was the beat boxing. I hated the beginning and I hated the end. However, I do like that he's original and can update an old song to make it sound current so there is some talent there. If you have to chose between voting for Blake and Chris Richardson, it's Blake all the way.

LaKisha Jones was next to sing. Her song was "Diamonds are Forever" and the $1,000,000 of diamonds looked nice but that was all I liked about the performance. It was such a boring song and not sung in tune at all. Her voice would go deep singing the "Diamonds Are Forever" part and it just was weird. I know she has a much better voice than she showed last night. This was the first time she didn't copycat the original artist and it turned out to be a big disappointment.

Next to the stage was Phil Stacy singing "Tobacco Road." One week, this guy sounds like Aiken (Clay) and the next week, my ears were Achin'. What the hell was this awful song he chose? He sung nothing in tune at all. His movements around the stage were awkward. He could definitely be in trouble this week after that disastrous performance.

Jordin Sparks followed singing "I, Who Have Nothing." Now, that was a good performance. She sung in tune. Had some nice notes The song choice was horrible but it was sung great. I wished she had picked a more fun song but at least this song showed off her voice. I have picked her to go deep in the audition rounds and I have predicted her to go to the finals in the Round of 24. Now, I'm going out on a limb here. If Jordin is not crowned this year's American Idol amongst this crop of crap, I'll be extremely disappointed.

Sanjaya Malakar was up next singing "You Really Go Me." He really got me thinking about how bad of a song choice that was. I kept on hearing in my head the Van Halen version and then I see this feminine Indian boy with long hair jumping around the stage like a lunatic attempting to sing this song. The vocals didn't even exist and Sanjaya was out of breath throughout the song. This was a bad performance. But, what made the performance so entertaining in a weird way is the little girl crying in the audience. Hey girl. These are NOT the Beatles. This is NOT Michael Jackson. This is some awful singer that happened to make it on to a reality singing contest. They showed her crying 7 times throughout the song. Between Sanjaya's act and this girl's weeping, I'm declaring this the creepiest performance in American Idol history.

Following Sanjaya is Gina Glocksen who sang "Paint It Black." Terrible song choice for Miss Glocksen. Again, this performance belongs in the Village at best with her band. She plays a set at 1:00 AM to the drunks that are still in the bar. Would you pay to see Gina in concert? No. But, maybe I'd pay a $10 cover to see her sing if it includes a free drink.

One of the more popular singers in Chris Sligh now had his turn. He sang "She's Not There" and I personally felt the vocals were not there. The judges thought he did a decent job. I thought this was his worst performance to date. I hated when he started off walking thru the audience making his way to the stage. To do that, you have to have a great voice and be sexy. He definitely ain't sexy and last night he didn't have a good voice. He should have no problem being safe this week but this really was a weak performance for someone that can do much better than he did.

Ending the night was Melinda Doolittle. With her neck nonexistent, she sang "As Long As He Needs Me." And it was sung nice. There were some great vocals throughout the song but it bored the living shit out of me. So what that she has a nice voice. Can you see anyone rushing out to buy her debut CD? There is a reason she was a backup singer. She has a nice voice but if she was a star, someone would have discovered her by now from all the times she was on stage doing backup. In this horrible year, she'll be going right down to the end.

So, that makes the bottom three being Sanjaya, Phil, and either Gina or Stephanie. I'd love to be wrong and have Chris Richardson in the bottom but teenage girls who can't hear how bad his voice is probably think he's cute and will vote for him. I'd love for Sanjaya to be gone too but I'm thinking it could be Gina. We shall see. Birdman Out.

Brandon First To Get Eliminated

Well, it came down to Sanjaya and Brandon, the two worst boys. And, Brandon, as predicted, goes home. It doesn't help when you forget the words. I was very disappointed to see Phil Stacey in the bottom 3 so hopefully he steps up his game. At least Sanjaya's fan base is diminishing. Next week is HUGE. The person eliminated not only does NOT make the Season 6 CD, the person does NOT make the Idol Concert Tour either. Please, please, please let Sanjaya go home next week !

Season 6: Top 12 Perform

Well, after all the b/s, it's time for the competition to really begin. Who is going to be the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood? Will one of this year's contestants one day win a Grammy or an Oscar? Highly doubtful based on this year's crop. I think we could be looking at an "off year" this year and that was confirmed after listening to last night's slop. But, here's how it all played out:

Diana Ross was the theme and Brandon Rogers was first out of the gate to butcher "Can't Hurry Love." First of all, he forgot his words. Ya practice this song all week and forget the words? Come on. This is not a song that you are hearing for the first time. Hell, I probably know half the words and I'm terrible at remembering lyrics. His "pop" look as taken him as far as he can probably go. Time is ticking on Mr. Rogers and his neighborhood. He had some moments where I thought he had some decent vocals but 90% of the song was unlistenable.

Melinda Doolittle was up next singing "Home". I wasn't too familiar with this Diana Ross song but what can ya say...she did a great job singing it. My problem is her looks. She looks like she could be one of the music teachers in "Lean On Me" or one of the munchkins in "The Wiz." But, again, this is a singing competition and this girl can definitely sing. I just don't know who is going to rush out and buy the latest Doolittle album unless it is preceded by the word "Doctor".

Next up was one of my favorites, Chris Sligh, singing "Endless Love." What I liked about this performance was that he took a recognizable song and made is so recognizable even though you knew exactly what he was singing. Does that make any sense? Well, to me it does. The judges weren't too thrilled by the performance but I thought it was totally original. Despite the judges comments, he's definitely safe for the week. I actually liked that he didn't have the glasses on this week. It will be interesting to see his transformation as the weeks go on.

Punk Rocker Gina Glocksen was next singing "Love Child." Great song choice but it wasn't anything special. I could see the same performance in Greenwich Village at some bar. I thought she looked good singing it and was having a blast but there are thousands of Gina Glocksens around the country and they all perform at bars, fraternity parties, and at clubs at the beach. Sorry Gina...it didn't do a thing for me but it was far from the worst of the night.

Speaking of Worst of the night, that award goes to Sanjaya Malakar murdering "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Great song choice but by the wrong contestant. First of all, this guy's looks are getting creepier each week. The eyebrows need to be thinned. The hair? What was up with that last night? Did he get a perm? It was like Jim Morrison meets Michael Jackson. His outfit was geeky and his dancing was embarrassing. It could have been the worst performance in Idol history at this stage of the game. So, to the American public, PLEASE STOP VOTING FOR THIS GUY ! I can't take it. He's worse than Fantasia. He's worse than AJ Gill. He's worse than Paris Bennett. He's worse than John Stevens. And, I can't believe I'm gonna say this. He could be worse than Mikalah Gordon. Sanjaya...please spare us and throw in the towel and save yourself from future ridicule.

Another contestant that didn't belong, Haley Scarnato, sung "Missing You." She beat out Sabrina Sloan which was shocking but now was her turn to show us that the viewers got it right. Well, she totally forgot her words in the middle. I really didn't like the vocals that much but Simon said it wasn't a bad performance and he liked it. I think he was just saying that so that she can be saved and the viewers can finally vote of Sanjaya. He basically threw her a bone to keep her on the show for an additional week but it may have backfired since there were so many bad performances that there are at least 5 people on the bubble.

Egg Head Phil Stacey had his turn and performed "I'm Going To Make You Love Me." I didn't love how he started off but during the chorus, he would have some vocals similar to Clay Aiken hitting those power notes. I thought it was one of the better performances of the night and he has nothing to worry about this week. That's more than I can say for Mario Vasquez and his masturbating controversy that came out yesterday but that's a whole different ball of wax that I won't get into right now.

Can you say, "Lakisha Jones"? I hope you can because she is going to be around for a bit. She sang "God Bless This Child." I wish she didn't sing a song with "God" in the title as she has the tendency to make a song sound too gospel and churchy. That being said, she has a great voice. Do I love her? NO. Will I rush out and buy her CD if she wins? NO. And, what was up with her dress? I've never seen cleavage like that before. It almost looked like a butt's crack it was so big. Holy Crap!

Following her on the stage was Blake Lewis who sang "You Keep Me Hanging On." I thought he did much better than the judges thought. I liked the spin he put on the song making it more for the younger generation. I really wanted a little beatbox in the middle but he decided to pass on that. He has great stage presence as he can dance and sway all over the stage as he sings. He's a good performer and will be one of the last guys remaining when the crap is eliminated.

Ahhhh, now Stephanie Edwards was up singing "Love Hangover." I think Stephanie and Sabrina were so similar in recent weeks that they split the vote and Stephanie got a bit more than Sabrina which is why Stephanie is still with us. She did a solid job singing and I agree with the judges that she should have sung the power part of the song to really wow us. She didn't but I still enjoyed her voice. She'll go on for a bit ala Tamayra, Latoya, and Vonzell but she won't win the competition.

Chris Richardson was next singing "The Boss." I'm not sure why so many people like this guy. I can't stand him. He has a terrible stage presence. He SO badly wants to be a lead in a boy band but the problem with that is that he can't dance and he can't sing. His vocals are beyond awful. The entire song was sung thru his nose and all he did was continue to do his vocal runs. Sing the lyrics Chris. Stop with the moaning and crap. I'm not a fan of this guy at all. Hopefully he is not this year's Bucky Covington because I can't stand for this guy to go that deep.

Finally, there was my Audition Favorite, Jordin Sparks to end the show with "If We Hold On Together." And how can you not love this girl.

So, that leaves the worst. Oye. Brandon sucked. Chris Richardson sucked. Haley sucked. And of course, Sanjaya sucked. So, my bottom 3 are all boys. Brandon, Chris, and Sanjaya.
Unfortunately, Chris will go back to the bench leaving Brandon and Sanjaya standing. Sanjaya really deserves to go home but if he has a fan base, then Brandon is a goner. But, it's pretty much a toss-up. Please...let it be Sanjaya ! Birdman Out.

Season 6: Top 12 Revealed

What a disappointing night on Idol last night as American made 2 mistakes. Below are the Top 12 that are now going to compete. The ones with the X next to their name were my original selections once I heard the Top 24 perform. I got two wrong, but so did ALL of America.

Blake Lewis X
Brandon Rogers X
Chris Richardson X
Chris Sligh X
Gina Glocksen X
Haley Scarnato
Jordin Sparks X
LaKisha Jones X
Melinda Doolittle X
Phil Stacey X
Sanjaya Malakar
Stephanie Edwards X

Note: I had Sabrina Sloan and Jared Cotter in my Top 12 predictions.

Let's start with the girls. Haley Scarnato? Hello? Who the hell voted for Haley Scarnato besides her friends, family, and maybe her home town. I'd understand it more if Antonella made it and Haley got the boot because of the pictures but come on. Is Haley better than Sabrina Sloan? What mistake. Sabrina Sloan is much better than Gina Glocksen. I thought Sabrina was going to go deep. America, please do not let Haley Scarnato be the next John Stevens.

Now, for the boys. Jared Cotter got the boot. All boys except Blake and Chris Sligh were on the bubble so I can't argue with this even though I thought that Jared is much better than Chris Richardson. Anyway, the part that bothered me is that part that bothered ANYONE that has an ear that can hear. How the heck did Sanjaya get in over Sundance? What a disaster. The judges shocked and Paula even said that is was nothing against Sanjaya totally calling him out and making him feel dumb. But, you know who is dumb? America. Either America can not hear or people that HATE American Idol just constantly voted for the worst to keep in him the competition. Let's hope he's gone soon because I have problems looking at this guy.

Let the competition begin.

Birdman out.

Season 6: Top 8 Girls

Well, it was the final night before the top 12 would be revealed and it was time for the girls to shine, well, at least more than the boys did the previous night. Anyway...here's how it all went down:

First out of the gate is Jordin Sparks singing Pat Benetar's "Heartbreaker." Jordin is one of my favorites and I thought she looked good but it was a bit too Keroake for me. Don't get me wrong, it sounded nice, the vocals were good, and she was having fun, but it was missing something. Still, she's SO safe and it was a nice way to start off the show. I'm rooting for her.

Next up was Sabrina Sloan. She sung En Vogue's "Don't Let Go". She has a Whitney / Christina tone to her voice. There were a few cracks in the song but I was liking what I was hearing. Plus, she has a unique look and is somehow looking more attractive each week. She is definitely rising up the ladder in my book. Bird Store...let me hear some noise. "Tweet, tweet, tweet...."

Our little stripper Antonella is up next. First of all, yesterday, she was offered $250K to host a Girls Gone Wild video so if she gets the boot tonight, then she still did pretty damn good. She came out and attempted to sing Corinne Bailey Ray's "Put Your Records On" and I was ready to turn my record off. The only thing that kept me watching is that she does have this attractive look that is nice to look at. That's what has kept her around for this long. She may not be a great singer but she could one day be a great porn star.

Next up is Haley signing Faith Hill's "If MY Heart Had Wings." First of all, this girl has J.D.D. - Julia DeMato Disease. She's an average singer who made it to Idol but who no one really cares about. Her voice is not strong enough and I really can't see her continuing on. And what was up with that red tank top with all the sparkles? She looked like a cross between a circus acrobat and a gymnast.

Following her was Stephanie Edwards belting out Mary J. Blige's "Sweet Thing." She's already pulled off Beyonce' and she just pulled off Blige. I'd say she is pretty good but when I see and hear her, I just think that she is Tamayra ate Latoya. Both girls were eliminated in the #4 slot so that is pretty good but it may not be good enough. However, her vocals were solid and she came off as a polished performer. There was definitely a few cracks in the voice but her strong performance made up for it. I definitely liked her but hopefully she can grow as the competition really heats up.

Next up is Frenchie. Ooops, I mean Mandisa. Oh, sorry, I mean LaKisha. She sung Whitney's "I Have Nothing." And what is great is that her and Sanjaya are using the same hair stylist as they have the same exact hair. Too funny in a creepy way (more for Sanjaya). Anyway, she sung the song very well and had on a MUCH better outfit then the prior week. But, my problem is that 3 weeks ago she did an exact copy of Jennifer Hudson's Dreamgirls song. Last week she tried to be herself and it was disappointing. And now this week she did an exact replica of Whitney. Again, she can definitely sing but I want her to be more original and take a regular song and make it her own.

Then came Gina Glocksen singing Evanescence's "Call Me When You're Sober." It was OK. It was a bit too punk for me. I could see her singing that song in the basement of a Fraternity House Party. She had fun and I've heard worse but I definitely didn't love it. It was off key at parts and there was too much yelling so I think she could be on the bubble.

Finally, there is Miss Doolittle. Melinda sung Peggy Lee's "I'm A Woman." My wife thinks she looks a bit like Weezy from "The Jeffersons." She has this look that is so bizarre. She looks 40 years old. Her nice is nonexistent. And she has no space between her boobs and waist line. It's like part of her is missing. She needs to be stretched out a bit. That being said, I just closed my eyes and listened to the performance so I would not be distracted by her shape. And that totally helped. She pulled off an excellent rendition of a terrible song. She'll be around for a long time.

Okay, Haley is definitely a goner. Now, comes the hard part - the Antonella Factor. If she gets the votes for her looks instead of her voice, then who goes home? I'm gonna have to say Gina Glocken could be the one. Hopefully the Antonella factor doesn't come into play but there is always that one singer who makes the top 12 that doesn't deserve it. We shall see. Until then, Birdman out.

Season 6: Top 8 Guys

Well, last night was painful to listen to the final 8 guys sing. This season is starting to remind me of Season 3 when we had the weakest Top 3 of Fantasia, Diana DeGarmo, and Jasmine Trias. Based on what my ears have been hearing so far, this could be another ugly ride. So, here is how it went down:

Blake Lewis was up first singing "All Mixed Up" by 311 who I never heard of. I thought his vocals were horrible in the beginning but then it got a bit better. I liked his rap / reggae tone to the song. It was a good way to start the show but his performanc

Sanjaya Malakar was next and in his segment he showed us that he was able to hula dance. Ewwwww. Come on dude. Do you have a penis? If yes, then act like it. It was so freaky and his hair...what the hell did he do. Maybe this dude is a she-male. He sung "Waiting On The World To Change." I think that was a John Mayer song but I'm not 100% sure. He was very nasal and it was really weak. It was a much better performance that he had the prior week but it was still beyond bad.

Sundance Head hit the stage and was singing "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam. This was a really bad cover band in a college bar performance. And, Simon used the same "bar" reference so at least I had some backup on this one. Half of the song was yelled and the other half was weak vocals. It was just like some drunk yelling. He did, however, end the song pretty good which could save him from elimination.

Chris Richardson turn was up. This guy is so cheezy to me. He SO wants to be Justin but he is SO not even close. He sung "Tonight I Wanna Cry" by Mr. Nicole Kidman aka Keith Urban. To me, it sounded like Peter Brady in the episode when his voice cracked singing "Time To Change." Hey Chris...it's time to change from an amateur singing to a good singer. As far as I'm concerned, they should eliminate an extra person of two tonight and this guy should be on that list.

Mr. Jared Cotter, oooh ooooh, Mister Cotter, was up next doing Stevie Wonder's "If You Really Love Me." I believe Elliot Yamin performed it last year which I didn't love but I also think that Justin Guarini did this song in Season 1 and did a great job at it. However, Jared did ok. I had fun listening to the song and I thought it was a great song choice. I thought he was the best to go so far in the evening but that is not saying much.

Then came Brandon Rogers. He's lucky he has a good look to him or he's be long gone. He sung "I Just Want To Celebrate" and again, no clue who it was by. He sort of looked last night like he should have been one of the friends on What's Happening - not Roger or Rerun, the other friend. Can't think of his name right now. Anyway, this was his best performance in a few weeks but it still was nothing special. He had a Lenny Kravitz tone to his voice so maybe he's slowly stepping up his game. But, it was OK. I give it a C+ / B-.

Second to last was Phil Stacey who sung "I Need You" by Leanne Rimes. Yes, you heard me right...Leanne Rimes. Dude...what the HELL are you doing singing a song by a female country artist. He has a much better voice than he showed last night...I think. Where did his voice go? His voice was horrible from the first note to the last and what made it worse was that he was wearing this stupid looking hat. Dude...what happened !

Finally, there was the awkward looking Chris Sligh singing "Wanna Be Loved" by ???. He is probably the only singing worth getting anyone's votes last night. Definitely the best performance of the night but again, that's not saying much.

Based on last night, really the only two people that are TOTALLY safe are Blake and Chris. The other 6 guys are all vulnerable. I'm saying Sanjaya and Chris Richardson goes home. But, with all these morons in this country voting for Sanjaya, who really knows. All I have to say is that I hope the girls are better tonight. Birdman Out.

Season 6: Top 10 Girls

Well, it was now the girls turn to see what they could do.

First up, Gina Glocksen. She's a decent singer but has an awful last name. Loved her song choice of Heart's "Alone". It was very deep and dykish for the first part of the song but she belted out the second half to make it a decent performance. I didn't love it but it was OK.

Alaina Alexander was up next singing some song called "Not Ready To Make Nice." Well, I'm not ready to make nice either. She may be cute but she's a horrible singer. She sounded like a sheep as some parts of the song. And, get rid of the black nail polish. That's a no-no in my book. Part of the song she also seemed out of breath. It was definitely no where's near a decent performance. She could be in trouble this week.

Lakisha Jones hit the stage next. What the HELL was she wearing. A mini skirt? Uhhhh, I never saw Mandisa in a mini skirt so you should cover up as well. She sung "Midnight Train To Georgia" and it was not nearly as good as the prior week. It was a bit too much church choir for me. She sung well but I was not loving it.

Melinda Doolittle's turn was up. She sang "My Funny Valentine" which literally bored the living shit out of me. She looks like she's 50 years old. He has absolutely NO neck and her head just sits on her shoulders. She is so bizarre looking. She sung well but it really was boring. Would you be able to shell out money for Dr. Dwarf Doolittle's CD unless she made a children's album of kiddie songs?

Antonella Barba, the porn star hit the stage. She sang "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion. People should NOT touch Celine cause you can never sing it as good as she can and that was exactly the case here. Her pictures are much better than her voice. I wasn't sure if he was having mic issues in the beginning of if that was just her voice cracking. It was really not good.

Jordan Sparks came out and changed the mood singing "Reflection" by Christina Aguilera. Tough song but good risky choice. I thought she pulled it off. Her voice is a mix of Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, and Christina. So, it brought a whole new outlook on this song. I like her. She's going deep.

Stephanie Edwards, another strong singer, followed her. She sang Beyonce's "Dangerously In Love" and it was WAY too much Beyonce. Change it up a bit Steph. I hated her performance. It didn't even sound like she was singing, it was like she was talking the song. I though it was horrendous and she was so good last week. But, the judges liked it so maybe I'm deaf.

Leslie Hunt came out and sung "It's A New Day" and I couldn't tell you by who. I can't stand this girl. She's a freak and does she have any bottom teeth? I was ready to slit my writs watching and listening to this girl. And what the heck was that scat crap she did at the end. Oh wow...this girl needs to go home PLEASE !

Haley Scarnato strutted to the stage and sung Whitney Houston's "Queen of the Night." Whitney is another artist you should not touch like Celine. To me, it was very Keroke at a college bar. And, her dance moves, she kept on showing us her armpits. I'd rather not see them. And there was this grunting through out the song. Oye Vey. Uhhhh...this girl will NOT make the Top 12.

Finally, it was Sabrina Sloan's time to shine. She also sings Whitney. Her song was "Fills Me Up" and I thought she actually pulled it off. It was such a risky choice but it sounded good and she hit some power notes. It was a good way to end the show.

So, the worst 4 of the evening were Leslie, Haley, Alaina, and Antonella. I think Leslie and Haley go home. But, any of these 4 leave are fine with me.

Birdman Out.

Season 6: Top 10 Guys

Well, I guess even though the guys performed last night, I must send a congrats yo, to Jennifer Hudson for winning a freakin' Oscar. Very impressive. She got much more talent than both Fantasia and Diana Degarmo combined. Yup...I still have a beef with Fantasia winning. I hope "The Color Purple" closed a few weeks after she begins.

Well, I hoped the guys would be better than the prior week. They were definitely better but still, no one blew me out of the water. Here's how it went down:

Phil Stacy comes out first and sings John Waite's "I Ain't Missin' You" which was a great song choice. This guy has a good voice and for some of the song actually sounded a bit like Clay Aiken. The first 2/3rds of the song was good and then hit some power notes towards the end. Phil is definitely one of the better singers we have this year and this was a pretty good start to the evening's show.

Next up is Jared Cotter. First of all, they need to thin his eyebrows. They look like someone pasted two giant strips of black felt above his eyes. He went with a rendition of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" which I thought was a perfect song choice. He sounded good but was a bit too much like Marvin. I wish he put more of his own spin on the song. Again, this didn't WOW me but it was pretty good.

A.J. Tabaldo hit the stage next. What is up with this guy's big white teeth. It looks like he's wearing porcelain veneers. He came out all preppy looking and sung "Feeling Good" and I have no clue what this song was. He was feeling good on the stage but I was feeling bad watching him. I thought it was terrible. It was a bad song to go along with bad dancing. It was boring and just nothing special. There were a lot of "oooooh's" and "ahhhhhh's" in the song that he did to show off his voice but it didn't work for me. I was shocked when the judges actually said they liked the song. Maybe he should track down A.J. Gill and they can come up with an album of horrific duets.

My pet peeve this year was now ready to sing - Sanjaya Malakar looking like a creepy indian version of Michael Jackson. He was dressed up as if he was going to come out and sing "Dirty Diana" with the silk shirt, the stupid hat, and the hair in a pony tail. So, I was wondering what MJ song he was gonna sing and he didn't even sing MJ. He did something complete out of the blue from his Halloween outfit. He sings "Steppin' Out With My Baby" which is more of a crooner song so I'm not sure what the whole outfit was about. Anyway, this guy does not have a strong voice. Half of the song, I almost couldn't hear what he was saying. It was like he was just going thru the motions to get the song over with. Plus, he has this girlie voice. Yeah...really creepy and I pray that people don't vote for the worst again to keep him in this competition. Sanjaya, it's time to go home to your sis.

My favorite this year, Chris Sligh was ready to sing. He sings a song called "Trouble" and this is another song who I don't know who the original artist is. First of all...what is up with Chris. He has a decent looking wife. This guy is having sex? I was shocked. But, good for him. I'm sure he'll look better and better each week as they continue to work on his image. That being said, this boy can sing. He made a song that wasn't great sound good. He's confident on stage and has a voice that is gonna keep him around for a while.

On stage now was Nick Pedro. Nick sings "Fever". Ouch. Maybe he had a fever as his performance was a vocal disaster. It was at best a performance for a good long warm shower into the shampoo bottle. He didn't show off his voice at all and I know this guy can do much better than he did. Surprisingly, the judges thought it was decent. Frankly, I thought it stunk like a skunk with a bad case of gas.

It was now beat boxer Blake Lewis' turn to shine. He sung "Virtual Insanity" by Jormaqui (can't spell this group and I'm not gonna try). He sung it really well and has great stage presence. He looks comfortable on the stage and loved the middle when he broke out into a small beatbox / scat routine before going back into the singing. It wasn't my favorite song and I know he can do much better but I think this guy is unique and can definitely do some damage this season. I guess Blake Lewis is in da house yo !

Speaking of black, one of my favorites was up next. Brandon Rogers came out and sung Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" which I thought was a great song choice if sung well. About 15 seconds into the song, Brandon became one of my least favorites. He murdered this song. What happened to his cool soulful voice we've heard last week? If this song was sung with power, he would have sailed to the Top 12. Now, after this train wreck of a performance, he's now on the bubble this week. What happened to his emotion? Where did his voice go? Mr. Rogers could have sung this song better than Brandon Rogers. I was so disappointed when he was done.

The Justin Timberlake ripoff in Chris Richardson was next. He sung a song called "Geek In The Pink". Huh? What song? From what I saw, it looked more like Geek in the horrible stripped zipper sweater. It was like I was watching Brian Austin Green (90210) singing Mraz. It was a very wannabee performance cause Chris, you may wanna be, but you ain't. I thought the dancing was terrible, it was like he had a nervous twitch with some of the dance moves. And the vocals? He sung the whole song thru is nostrils. Also, Chris...you are WHITE. Stop trying to be BLACK. It's not working.

Last to sing is Sundance Head who needed a great performance as he has not been good since his initial audition. He sung "Mustang Sally" and now I know why the judges kept on giving him another chance to come back. Why? Cause he's really good if he picks the right song. This song was perfect for him. He was in a groove from the first note until the last. He saved his ass this week and now may be a lock to make it into the top 12.

Results: Sanjaya is a goner (knock on wood). As for the other guy going home, they will have 2 guys on the stage - Brandon and Nick (or maybe AJ). I'm gonna say that Nick Pedro is the other guy going home.

I'm looking forward for the girls tonight and can't wait to see if more pornographic photos of Antonella Barba show up on the internet tomorrow. Until then...Birdman Out !

Season 6: Top 12 Girls

Who will be the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood or Katharine McPhee? Notice how I left Fantasia and Diana DeGarmo out? Fantasia was the worst Idol to ever win and Degarmo was the weakest runner up so I chose to ignore the results of season 3. But, the Top 12 women performed last night.

First up is Stephanie Edwards singing some Alicia Keys song I've never heard of. Steph has this Latoya Londonish look and sound with a Mary J vibe but ya know what? I thought she did a great job to start off the show and was much better than anything we've heard the previous night. So, to Stephanie Edwards, I applaud you. Good stuff.

Next was Amy Krebs who sung Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" which is not my favorite song. If you sing Raitt or Ethridge (Melissa), then you picked a terrible song to sing and Krebs did just that. Ouch. Her voice was like a bowl of Rice Krispies sitting in sour milk making these snap, crackle and pop sounds. There is a reason why the producers didn't show much of Amy in the earlier rounds and that showed. Amy Krebs...your time on this show is ticking.

Another girl I can't stand who wasn't featured much, if at all, in earlier rounds is Leslie Hunt. She's just this weird chick who looks like a weird version of Catherine Oxenberg and Sadie (the runner-up on this past season of "The Bachelor). Plus, she's a dog walker. And what was with that outfit? I know she was trying to be sexy but it looked like she was wearing black soccer shin guards. Okay...now for the performance. She sung Aretha Franklin's "Natural Woman" and I'm not a fan of this song especially since hearing it for years on some ladies deodorant commercial. She sung the song Ehhhh, but her voice was odd. It came off to me like it was a performance by a guest star on The Muppet Show except there were no muppets in sight. I'm not a Leslie fan.

Next came Sabrina Sloan singing another Aretha song "I never Loved A Man". Now, this was interesting for me. She has this Diana Ross hair, a Barbara Streisand nose, and Gloria Estefan face but has a Christina Aguliara-ish voice. I was impressed and I was not expecting much out of her. I think she could be a dark horse to go deep.

Antonella Barba hit the stage next. She is really good looking with that Eva Mendes look so I was hoping she would do good which would make her best friend even more jealous since I hated that girl. She sang Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" which was an interesting song choice. But, it wasn't working for me despite wanting to like it. It was almost as if she was this drunk sororiety girl singing in her house. I really wanted better but I guess there wasn't much talent here.

Next up is my early female favorite - Jordin Sparks, who sang Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason".

Following Jordin was Nicole Tranquillo. She attempted to sing Chaka Kahn's "Stay". She was having such fun out there. She was confident when she was singing. She was enjoying what she was doing. She was dancing and having a blast. But, wow, this was painful to my ears. Plus, what were those weird nasal and facial expressions when she was singing. Looked like she was having diarrhea at some points of the song. I found my self focusing on my dessert more than I was on this performance. This was really bad.

Then cam Haley Scarnato who sang Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me". She has this Camille Velasco (prior season) look but with a mole and a nice rack. Celine is a tough choice to sing because no one will sing a song nearly as good as her. But, it wasn't terrible. Don't get me wrong...it wasn't great either but compared to some of the other garbage we've heard, I believe she'll survive this week's cut.

Hitting the stage was Melinda Doolittle. She sings "Since You've Been Gone" by Luthor Vandross. She has this weird look to her with a big head and no neck. Sometimes, I felt like I was watching a tall dwarf sing. However she had a really good voice. It sounded a bit like Tina Turner but what was missing was the tall long legs. So, it was a solid performance but the legs missing. Also, she has a terrible name. Sounds like a kindergarten teacher. I can just see a little kid going, "Miss Doolittle...I need to pee..."

Alaina Alexander was next to sing. She sung "Brass In Pocket" by the Pretenders. This is a song I'm not a fan of by any means. She has a cute look to her almost like a very young Mariah but the voice wasn't in the same ballpark. For me, she's a bathroom singer. She is no different than my terrible voice singing in the shower. I can see her in the bathroom putting on makeup and blowing her hair while singing and thinking she's really good, but the truth is, she really isn't.

Gina Glocksen was now in the house. She sings "All By Myself" and I can't think of who sings this song. The first 90% of her singing bored the living shit out of me. It was like she was going thru the motions. However, she belted a few great notes down the stretch to save herself. She just needs to work on singing good for an entire song.

Finally, it was Lakisha Jones turn to shine. She sung "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls. The problem I have with this is that this song is Jennifer Hudson's now. This song is going to have people make comparisons. She should have chosen a song to make her own. That being said, it was one hell of a performance. This girl can sing and was definitely the best of the night. I just hope she chooses a song next week to make her own.

So, my bottom 3 for the evening are: Amy Krebs, Nicole Tranquillo, and Antonella Barba. I believe Amy and Nicole will be heading home.

And my 6 girls to make it to the Top 12 are: Lakisha Jones, Jordin Sparks, Melinda Doolittle, Stephanie Edwards, Sabrina Sloan, and Gina Glocksen.

Let's see how these predictions hold up. Until next time...Birdman Out !

Season 6: Top 12 Men

So, the men kicked off season 6 last night and I really thought they were going to come out and knock my socks off. However, my socks remained on and the only thing that was almost knocked off was the lid of the toilet seat when I tried to puke after listening to some of these performances. Not good. Here's what happened with final predictions at the bottom.

Rudy Cardenas kicked off the show singing "Free Ride." The song really didn't fit for this guy. I could see Bo Bice singing this song...not Rudy. Rudy should have sung something like LaBamba, which I hate, but could have fit his voice much better. I thought this guy had a better voice from what I heard but I was wrong.

Brandon Rogers was up next who my wife refers to as "The Black Bon Jovi." I like this guy. He has a good look to him that the girls are gonna love. He performed Michael Jackson's "Rock With You". I didn't love the song choice as Michael is so unique that it's hard to recreate Michael's magic and make it your own. But, the guy had a decent voice. It was a cross between Brian McKnight, Al Jurreau (i can't spell), and Stevie Wonder. He definitely hit a few bad notes but I'm not worried as I think he could get better each week.

Up next was Sundance Head who was an early favorite of mine. The key word was "EARLY". Now I think he just sucks like a whore with sharp teeth - Bad Head (that's a pun). He sung "Knights In White Satin" which was an interesting song choice. His voice was all over the place. It almost sounded like I do when I'm in the shower. Maybe this guy should stop singing and audition for the World Wrestling Federation as he looks like he could be a wrestler. I'm very down on Mr. Potato Head.

Paul Kim took the stage next singing George Michael's "Careless Whisper". Wow. This was just terrible. George Michael must have been cringing in his rehab clinic when hearing this performance. I thought this guy had pipes but this was one of the worst Top 24 performances in the 6 seasons of American Idol. And dude...you ain't Joss Stone so put on your damn shoes so I don't have to see your athlete's foot.

Hitting the stage next was Chris Richardson. Yeah, yeah, yeah...they say he has that Justin Timberlake look. But, does Justin have all of those zits on his forehead? They covered them up well for his performance but time to buy some clearsil. He sung "I Don't Want To Be" which I thought was by the Black Crowes but it turns out to be by Gavin McGraw. Wait...isn't that Captain Stubbing of the Love Boat? Any-Hoooo, it was OK. It wasn't the worst and was far from the best. It was pretty meiodicre for me. If I recall, Bo Bice also sang this song and did a MUCH better job than Chris.

Well, it's now Nick Pedro's turn to charm the audience. He was a crooner in the auditions and now came out and sung "Now and Forever". What was he thinking? I thought it took "forever" for the song to end. It was SO boring that I got up to get a box of JuJubees during the performance.

Blake Lewis was next. Yup...he was the beat-boxer. He sung a song I've never heard of "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane. Not sure who the hell Keane is either but hey...I like New Edition so who am I to know anything about music. He had a good look to him and I was actually surprised by his voice. I would have loved a little beat box in the middle which hopefully he'll eventually integrate but I liked it. No, I didn't LOVE it. But, it was decent compared to the crap we've heard already.

Sanjaya Malakar turn had arrived. I'm not a fan of this kid AT ALL. I can't stand his hair, his big white teeth, and his gigantic caterpillar eyebrows. He's a bit too creepy for me. He almost looks like an Indian version of Tony Orlando (some of you young people may have NO clue who Tony Orlando is...before your time) I've said it before but are you gonna shell out money for a Sanjaya Malaker CD or concert ticket? If yes, you need to enter rehab with Britney. Anyway, Sanjaya sings Stevie Wonder's "Knocks Me Off My Feet" and it truly did. It was SO bad that I lost balance and stumbled. Sanjaya should be back home with his sister very soon.

My early favorite was up next, Chris Sligh, singing a song called "Typical" which I've never heard of and don't have a clue who sings it. This guy has a unique look despite being one large fugly mutha. He looks like this big bushy dog or the chubby son of Gallagher but I like this guy. He has such a good sense of humor and he makes me laugh. Plus, the boy can sing. I don't think this was his best performance. I would love him to have sung a different song but I still believe Chris will go deep in this competition.

Jared Cotter is up next. I have to root for this guy. Even though they say he is from Long Island, he currently lives in my town of West Orange, NJ, the same place where Anwar Robinson was also from. We haven't heard much of this guy as he wasn't featured in the early rounds. But, I loved his song choice...Brian McKnight's "Back To One." It wasn't great but it was solid especially since this is really the first time we've heard must from him. I thought it was OK but some of the high notes needed some work. I'm on the bubble with this guy.

A.J. Tabaldo too the stage next to sing "Never Too Much" by Luthor Vandross. First of all, I hate it when Paula sings during a performance that is NOT good. Sit down you drug addict and listen to the performance. Okay, this guy was a bit too R.J. Heltonish (season 1) for me. I didn't like his preppy look either. This guy is not going to go far but I've been known to be wrong before. I hope I'm not wrong on this guy.

Finally, there was Phil "Kojak" Stacy. He sung "I Could Not Ask For More". The judges said the song started out bad but we had a blackout for 2 minutes so the TiVo was interrupted so I didn't hear the bad part. However, the part I did hear was great. He definitely was the strongest singer of the night as far as I'm concerned.

Well, here come the predictions. Based on last night, my bottom 3 are: Rudy Cardenas, Paul Kim, and Sanjaya Malaker. Rudy survives another week and Paul and Sanjaya go home. Not to be racist but in this country, we really don't have any Asian or Indian mega pop stars that I know of. I guess based on last night's performances, I now know why.

So, here is what I believe will be the 6 guys that make it to the Top 12: Phil Stacy, Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis, Brandon Rogers, Chris Richardson, and Jared Cotter.

I hope the girls do a better job tonight. Until then, Birdman Out !
